How does mothman prophecies end

Have you seen The Mothman Prophecies? The Mothman Prophecies. By Scott B. Updated: 20 May pm. If you've been following news on films to be released in , you have probably heard about a movie called The Mothman Prophecies starring Richard Gere and Laura Linney, and directed by Mark Pellington Arlington Road.

You might even have seen a poster or a trailer for the film, due out January 25, , which comes with the ominous warning "Based on true events. And what the heck is a "Mothman," anyway? John eventually learns from a man named Alexander Leek Sir Alan Bates , a past researcher in the field, that sightings of the winged creature, a mothman, has been a prophesy for some disaster to happen.

Believing what Leek tells him, but dismissing Leek's warnings not to investigate any further, John tries to discover what the disaster is going to be before it happens, and if he can do anything either to prevent it, or to minimize the destruction, especially to human life, including his own.

In light of what's happening, any of John's beliefs on what is the disaster to be is may come across as rantings of a crazed lunatic to anyone who matters. When John Klein Richard Gere , a Washington Post journalist, and his wife Mary Debra Messing finally find the house of their dreams, they just can't believe their luck. On the way back from the bargain, Mary nearly runs over a caped, winged figure, jerks the wheel and skids onto the sidewalk.

She hits her head badly, and dies in the hospital a little while later. John, completely devastated, soon finds some sketches his wife made after the accident. They all show a winged creature, yet there is no angel resemblance at all. He has no idea how he has journeyed the four hundred miles in less than two hours. In the small town, local Sheriff Connie Mills Laura Linney struggles with many sightings of a mothlike creature taller than a man being reported, while John believes that an explanation for his wife's fate can be found.

The deeper John digs, the clearer the mothman's purpose arises, only to leave his life in immediate danger, so it seems. Sign In. Gere plays the younger, cockier journalist, while Alan Bates plays an older, wiser and spooked professor who at one time also witnessed a paranormal event. This was a movie about dealing with something that human beings will never be equipped to understand.

A voice? A light or a monster? That was the appeal to me, the ambiguity and the unanswered questions. We wanted to play it straight and strip out any melodrama or kookiness. When the bridge collapsed, it was pretty distressing I was determined I was going to find the answers to this. As it progressed, I became more and more baffled. It took a long time for me to realize that I was dealing with something that the human mind could not understand.

There are many things that we will never know. Indeed, nobody knows what those people saw on those dark West Virginia nights. But for the folks who say they saw the strange, malevolent creature--whatever it was--their lives were never the same. It began in mid-November , when two couples, parked at an old World War II munitions dump site that the locals called TNT, say they were chased by a large creature.

They reported the incident to the police, and the sightings continued from there. Some said the creature chased them to the ground. Others suffered from bleeding eyes after reportedly seeing it. Many never slept well again. One theory is that people saw a huge sandhill crane that veered off course.

Another is that it was a giant, mutated owl.
